We recently responded to an appeal for support from Cayman Islands non-profit organisation, Jasmine, which provides critical nursing and comfort care, free of charge, to members of the community who are living with a life-limiting or end-of-life illness.

In April of this year, Jasmine was forced to cancel its largest annual fundraiser, The Big Bash, as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. The event would ordinarily raise around $80,000 and so the cancellation left a significant hole in the charity's finances. To close this funding gap, Jasmine appealed to the community to donate what they could in order to keep their doors open and support their critical care work. Recognising Jasmine's incredible work, we responded to their appeal with a $5,000 donation to help support patient care in the community.

Our donation will go some way to enabling Jasmine's seven nurses and caregivers, in addition to a part-time medical director, to continue to provide care to patients in their homes or in Jasmine's purpose-built four bed facility, Jasmine Villa.

Commenting on our support, Managing Director of our Cayman office, Richard Gordon said: "At Ocorian we note the importance of palliative care and assistance to caregivers and grieving survivors, and so were happy to donate to Jasmine to support their tremendous efforts."

Alanna Thomas, Fundraising and Events Coordinator at Jasmine, said: "We are enormously grateful to Ocorian for their support. It costs almost $1 million each year to provide the services that so many in our local community are dependent upon. Donations such as these ensure that when we are asked how much our services will cost a family, we can say it's free."
