Larissa Bergin and Ryan Thomas, partners in Jones Day's Antitrust & Competition Law Practice resident in Washington, D.C., will speak during the New York State Bar Association's 2021 Annual Meeting.

On January 21, Mr. Thomas will participate in a discussion on "Antitrust and Blockchain." Panelists from the blockchain industry and legal community in the United States and Europe will discuss the competitive implications of this emerging technology, including whether blockchain is a positive transformational force that will disrupt entrenched markets, a mechanism that is susceptible to collusion, or both.

On January 25, Ms. Bergin, who serves as Chair of NYSBA's Food, Drug & Cosmetic Law Section, will moderate the Section's keynote presentation. She will discuss the recent COVID vaccine authorizations with keynote speaker Julie Tierney, who is Acting Chief of Staff to the new Acting FDA Commissioner. They will also consider the difference between Emergency Use Authorizations and Therapeutic Biologics Applications and the related regulatory implications. In addition, Ms. Bergin will present opening remarks welcoming participants to the Section meeting.
