Yellowknife (April 14, 2021) – Crowe MacKay LLP Partner, Matthew Bannister, has been recognized by CPA Northwest Territories/Nunavut (CPA NWT/NU), receiving the Early Achievement and Distinguished Service Awards.

Each year CPA NWT/NU calls for members to nominate their peers, identifying those making a significant impact in their organization, the broader business community, charitable an community organizations, and the CPA profession as a whole.

This year Matthew received not one, but two of CPA NWT/NU's awards, exemplifying his work ethic, dedication to going above and beyond the status quo, and how he is redefining excellence. "It's an honour to receive both of the awards," says Matthew. "These awards represent acknowledgements from my peers for work I have completed to help advance the accounting profession in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut as well as my other volunteer work. To me, it means that my efforts have had a positive impact on the profession and the broader community."

Receiving the Early Achievement Award recognizes Matthew as a young leader in the profession. As a CPA who has had his accounting designation for 10 years or less, Matthew has built the foundation of his career on serving his clients and the community with the utmost care and commitment to quality. He truly has established himself as a trusted advisor.

As a recipient of the Distinguished Service Award, Matthew's contributions to the profession, especially to CPA NWT/NU, is of significance. He was instrumental in the official formation of the CPA NWT/NU body in 2019, completing unification of accounting profession in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut to align with every other jurisdiction in Canada. In addition to this legacy, Matthew served CPA NWT/NU as the first chair of their governing board where his focus was to elevate members as trusted advisors and "work with them to refine their skills to meet the unique market demands in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut."

What does the future look like? For Matthew, what excites him most about continuing his career in the accounting profession "is the ability to work with clients and to become their trusted advisor." It circles back to Crowe MacKay's leaders living the firm's Core Values of caring, sharing, investing, and growing their team, clients, communities, and themselves. "Being able to generate value for community organizations for which I volunteer and clients alike is always an interesting and exciting aspect of being in the accounting profession. The ability to provide insights and value as a trusted advisor will continue to be an aspect of my career, and profession, which I will hold in high regard."
