Dear Friends of Labuan IBFC,
I sincerely hope this edition of Insight Plus finds you and those dear to you, in the best of health and spirit. Malaysia has initiated a "Movement Control Order" to keep COVID-19 at bay, as such the team and I have been working from home since March 18 and we will continue to do so until April 28, at least.
There is no denying it's a challenging time for us all, be it physically, mentally or emotionally. No one has been left untouched by COVID-19 but this mutual foe has brought humanity together. Indeed, I have found that as we isolate, humanity has never been closer!
And I'm proud to say this spirit of unity has also brought Labuan IBFC's Industry Associations together to raise funds and pledges of aid, towards the mutual aim of supporting frontline personnel and to those less fortunate in Labuan. For more on this Fund, please click here.
I am also happy to provide details should you wish to contribute, so please drop me a line at farah@libfc.com to be part of this initiative.
Whilst the team and I in Kuala Lumpur, are assisting with some fund raising, with the main committee consisting of industry representatives and Labuan FSA in Labuan managing procurement of relief items, coordinating with the local authorities and managing aid distribution.
Am also pleased to say that COVID-19 has not affected our market development activities, albeit via different formats, with a focus on private webinars and group calls, podcasts, direct mailers, etc. In addition, look out for the unveiling of Labuan IBFC's Market Report 2019, detailing how the jurisdiction fared last year which should be released soon!
In the meantime, stay safe, enjoy the extra time we now have with our loved ones.
And remember: There is always a silver lining!
