On April 19, 2012 President of Ukraine signed the Customs Code of Ukraine.

The new Customs Code of Ukraine has been signed with the following amendments, including presidential ones:

  • delegation of powers to issue regulatory acts (e.g. on approval of procedures, provisions, rules, lists, forms of documents and so on) from the State Custom Service of Ukraine to the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine;
  • decreasing the total value of the goods that may be imported by citizens to the customs territory of Ukraine without paying taxes through overland and sea checkpoints, from EUR 1,000 to 500;
  • increasing the total temporary importation term of transport vehicles of personal usage from 183 days to one year for citizens - nonresidents;
  • exclusion of customs brokerage activity from the kinds of activity requiring permission of customs authorities;
  • deprivation of customs authorities of the rights to conduct forensic examinations.

The Customs Code of Ukraine shall come into force on the first day of the second month following the month of its publication.
