On January 26, the Plenum of the National Institute of
Transparency, Access to Information, and Personal Data Protection
(Instituto Nacional de Transparencia, Acceso a la
Información y Protección de Datos Personales or
"INAI") issued a decree (source document in Spanish)
approving the Personal Data Protection Guidelines for the Public
Sector (Lineamientos Generales de Protección de Datos
Personales para el Sector Público). The guidelines
outline the necessary provisions for applying the General Law on
the Protection of Personal Data held by Government Agencies
(Ley General de Protección de Datos Personales en
Posesión de Sujetos Obligados).
