Effective October 28, 2019, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has approved new regulations and a new form for address registration.

New Form

The form now includes a field confirming the right to use the premises.

New Regulations

In case of refusal of the address registration documents, an official of the MIA or an employee of the post office/multi functional center must now issue an official refusal notice listing the specific grounds for refusal.

The grounds for refusal now include:

  • Violation of the requirements of the address registration form and its contents;
  • Unreadable or corrected text;
  • Missing mandatory documents;
  • Expiry of the foreign national's identity document.

Employers who may be affected are encouraged to contact an immigration specialist for case-specific advice.
