As I look out my new office window onto 4th Street, I'm reminded of the day on which I, along with two former partners, opened the Calgary office of my first law firm, McCarthy & McCarthy (now McCarthy Tétrault). The date was September 1st, 1981. For those you old enough to remember, it was the day Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau and Premier Peter Lougheed signed an oil & gas revenue sharing agreement that led to the implementation of the National Energy Program – the beginning of a very tumultuous time in Calgary. Over the years, I have seen the city weather many storms, only to come out the other side stronger than ever.

I believe the keys to success for many local companies lie in their level of thoroughness. My clients often impressed me with their ability to excel at all aspects of planning and executing business transactions. They are driven to ensure that those transactions are successful over the long term. As a new member of the Moodys team, I am looking forward to sharing my four decades of experience and expertise with entrepreneurs, private corporations and high net-worth individual clients.

Moodys' reputation in the tax field is second to none. The fact that they are focused solely on tax and are devoted to solving their clients' tax issues as efficiently as possible are what attracted me to their firm. I believe that my skillset will be a superb fit with the Moodys team, and I am already super impressed with their dedication. I have already started work on a significant corporate reorganization with some of my new colleagues, and I look forward to facing many more challenges in the years ahead.
