Walkers' Jersey team has seen its best results yet in the latest Legal 500 Directory after another 12 months of strong recruitment activity and more closely integrating the firm's Jersey legal teams with colleagues across the other nine international offices in Asia, the Caribbean and Europe.

The Investment Funds and Employment practice groups were both promoted, and individual recognition was given to Partners in the Investment Funds, Banking & Finance, Insolvency & Dispute Resolution and Private Capital & Trusts practice groups.

Investment Funds Partner Jonathan Heaney was named in the Legal 500 Hall of Fame, while Banking & Finance Partners Alexandra Corner and Nigel Weston were both named "Leading Individuals" along with Insolvency & Dispute Resolution Partner Nigel Sanders. Private Capital &Trusts Partner Robert Dobbyn and Insolvency & Dispute Resolution Partner Marc Seddon were also recognised, and Daniel Read, who leads the firm's Jersey employment law team, was named as a Next Generation Partner.

In addition to the Partner recognition, and very much in keeping with the firm's policy of supporting and developing the next generation of market leading lawyers, six Walkers' lawyers were named "Rising Stars": Senior Counsel Christophe Kalinauckas and Julia Keppe (both Banking and Finance), Senior Counsel Sevyn Kalsi (Private Capital and Trusts), Senior Counsel Guy Morris (Investment Funds and Corporate), and Senior Associates Niall MacDonald and James Turnbull (both Insolvency and Dispute Resolution).

Walkers' Managing Partner in Jersey, Jonathan Heaney, said that the strong results were the result of the continued investment and growth in Walkers' Channel Islands business (the headcount in the Jersey office has grown by over 70% in the last two years) as part of the firm's international offering in the laws of Guernsey, Cayman Islands, BVI, Bermuda, and Ireland.

Jonathan said: "It is very pleasing to see another strong set of results for the team, which reflects the growth in scale, as well as heightened market reputation and client instructions.

"The market for Jersey law advice is both local and international, and the last 12 months has seen more collaboration than ever before with our colleagues in Dublin, Cayman, BVI, Dubai, Hong Kong, Singapore and Bermuda, as we continue to broaden our client offering.

"In particular, I'm very pleased in particular to see the recognition for some key individuals, including Partners Alexandra Corner and Nigel Weston who are the driving force behind our Banking & Finance practice, as well as Robert Dobbyn in our highly regarded Private Capital & Trusts practice, and Nigel Sanders and Marc Seddon as Partners in the Insolvency and Dispute Resolution team where we now have lawyers ranked as Leading Individuals, Next Generation Partners and Rising Stars."

Fraser Hern, Head of Walkers' Channel Islands business, said: "Our commitment to becoming the leading Channel Islands law firm continues.

"Amongst other things, we are seeing success in the Channel Islands from the collaborative approach being taken across the Jersey and Guernsey practices, as well as across our European and Global business as a whole.

"Our recent directory rankings in Jersey have been mirrored by similarly positive developments in Guernsey where we are now ranked in Tier 1 across Banking & Finance, Insolvency & Dispute Resolution, Insurance and Employment law. Being recognised as a top tier firm in the Channel Islands is a side product of the service that we aim to provide to our clients both locally and internationally, rather than a goal in itself, but the recognition is nonetheless important.

"We continue to see significant opportunity for growth and investment in our businesses across the Channel Islands in the coming years."
