The city of Vernon in British Columbia has become the latest to launch its website for the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot.

Applications from candidates who meet both federal and community criteria are being accepted as of February 1, 2020.

Vernon is the fifth community to launch activity through the RNIP, after Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay in Ontario, and the Manitoba cities of Brandon and Altona/Rhineland.

"The community will utilize this program to continue to strengthen our local economy and support the development of our workforce," the Vernon website says.

As well as the federal requirements (listed below), Vernon lists specific candidate requirements, as well as its own version of the Comprehensive Ranking System, similar to the federal Express Entry system.
