Cox & Palmer is pleased to announce that Patrick Fitzgerald, ICD.D, has been appointed as Chair of its Board of Directors.

A partner in its Halifax, Nova Scotia office, Patrick is an experienced business lawyer with a robust corporate and commercial practice advising business owners, executives, and boards of directors of private and public companies. His strategic legal advice spans complex financings, mergers and acquisitions, as well as intellectual property and technology law. He is a member of the esteemed Institute of Corporate Directors and a holder of the ICD.D designation and is a recognized industry leader by The Best Lawyers™ in Canada and the Canadian Legal Lexpert® Directory.

Patrick has been active in several organizations both inside and outside the practice of law, including as a board member of the Canadian Technology Law Association, as well as past chair roles for the Canadian Bar Association, Securities and Intellectual Property branches for Nova Scotia. He is an active and long-time participant in the start-up ecosystem, where he has worked closely with entrepreneurs, founders, and early and growth stage businesses as well as angel and venture capital investors and private equity organizations. Patrick sits on the board of the Halifax Partnership and is chair of its governance committee. He is a past member of Cox & Palmer’s Halifax office executive committee and currently serves as their general counsel.
