LONDON, April 30, 2022 – Leading international law firm Proskauer is delighted to announce that the Minority Corporate Counsel Association ("MCCA") has named partner Sean Spence as a 2024 Rising Star. The annual list features attorneys whose accomplishments and dedication to the legal profession and their community place them among the best and brightest next generation leaders in law.

A partner in the Private Funds Group, Sean advises asset managers in connection with private equity fund formations, internal governance and ongoing fund operations. As a U.S.-qualified lawyer based in London, Sean maintains a truly global practice, covering multiple jurisdictions and fund strategies, including buyout, energy and infrastructure, real estate, credit and emerging markets. Sean also advises a diverse group of institutional investors and sovereign wealth funds in connection with their global alternative investment strategies, including negotiating investments in primary and secondary transactions across a variety of vehicles and asset classes.

Sean is a dedicated champion of diversity, equity and inclusion. He is the longest serving chair of the Firm's Black Lawyer Affinity Group (BLAG), having led BLAG for the past 7 years. During his tenure, Sean has spearheaded several of Proskauer's key diversity initiatives, most notably creating the Firm's "A Path Forward" speaker series and its UK Black History Month programming. In addition to his work across DEI, Sean maintains an active pro bono practice. His work includes representing asylum seekers to the U.S. in connection with women fleeing violence and persecution, such as forced marriage and female genital mutilation (FGM), and he is also part of the Firm's election protection team, assisting voters with polling station inquiries.

To be selected for inclusion as an MCCA Rising Star, attorneys must demonstrate a deep commitment to legal service as well as diversity, equity and inclusion and outstanding pro bono and community service contributions. Winners will be honored at the MCCA's Creating Pathways to Diversity® Conference which works to bolster the recruitment, retention, and promotion of attorneys from diverse backgrounds.
