There's a saying that "copying is the highest form of flattery." This is simply not true, especially when it comes to copying products covered by IP, such as trademarks, copyrights, and patents. Copying IP-protected goods, like selling counterfeits, is stealing! Tens of billions of dollars are stolen every year because of online sales of counterfeits and copies. Online marketplaces continue to be fertile grounds for counterfeiters. While some have taken steps, they can and should do more. But to maximize protection companies first need to build strong IP portfolios, use expert services for combating counterfeits online and where there is no other avenue—do not hesitate to resort to court protection.

Join Gornitzky partners Shirley Gal and Ziv Rotenberg, in collaboration with partner Jeff Berkowitz from Finnegan and Itai Galmor from Brandshield for an interesting open discussion on a precedent-setting case of an Israeli company, its ongoing attempts to stop sales of counterfeits of its products online, and its eventual successful take on a major e-commerce platform. The speakers will discuss important lessons for entrepreneurs and companies of all sizes, particularly those focusing on selling products online in the United States as well as other countries all over the world.
