On September 13, the Privacy Commission issued a press release
(source documents in French and Dutch) about an ongoing investigation
involving the direct marketing practices of a cable operator. Per
the release, existing customers must be provided an opt-in
mechanism, although the Privacy Commissions did not foreclose an
opt-out mechanism for new clients if appropriate transparency was
ensured.
