As a recently developed technology, blockchain has two important
technical features—algorithm and distributed system. However,
under U.S. patent law, pure algorithms are not patentable. Further,
it may be difficult to prove divided infringement when the steps of
a method claim are not performed by a single entity. This article
discusses strategies for U.S. patent applications in
blockchain.
