An increasing number of our clients have received letters from
companies that appear to be government agencies with names such as
"U.S. Trademark Registry," "U.S. Trademark
Registration Office" and "Registration & Monitoring
Division."
These companies are in no way affiliated with the official U.S.
Patent and Trademark Office or any government agency.
They are private companies seeking your business by offering to
enter your trademark in their private registry or to record your
trademark with U.S. Customs for a fee. Legitimate correspondence
from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, or any foreign office,
regarding your trademark is sent to your law firm.
Please do not take any action regarding any such unofficial
communications you receive about your trademark applications or
registrations.
The content of this article is intended to provide a general
guide to the subject matter. Specialist advice should be sought
about your specific circumstances.
