Identità Malta, formerly known as Identity Malta, has introduced a new initiative, the Specialist Employee Initiative, aimed at expediting the application process for skilled foreign workers, and introduced enhancements to the Key Employment Initiative.

Specialist Employee Initiative

Identità Malta, formerly known as Identity Malta, has launched the Specialist Employee Initiative (SEI) , an extension of the existing Key Employee Initiative. This new program is designed to streamline the application process for skilled foreign workers, promising a swift processing time of fifteen (15) working days. To qualify, applicants must meet specific criteria, including a minimum gross basic salary of €25,000, professional or technical positions, and a minimum of Malta Qualifications Framework (MQF) Level 6 or equivalent qualifications directly related to the job.

Some documents which would need to accompany the application are:

  1. Full copy of passport;
  2. CV;
  3. Declaration of Suitability;
  4. Lease Agreement & Housing Approval;
  5. Health Screening; and
  6. Health Insurance.

The implementation of this program will undoubtedly alleviate the burden associated with individual work permit applications. Identita' is actively pursuing initiatives to enhance the department's efficiency, responding to the current surge in demand.

Key Employee Initiative

The Key Employee Initiative, focusing on highly skilled managerial or technical roles, requires a minimum gross basic salary of €35,000 and duly certified qualifications recognized by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre. Both initiatives aim to facilitate the employment of skilled foreign nationals, with employers submitting applications on their behalf through Identità Malta's online portal.
