The EPFO has issued a circular on February 14 in relation to the
procedure for initiation of inquiries by investigating officers
under Section 7A of the EPF Act, and aimed at bringing uniformity
and transparency in investigations. Field officers can initiate an
inquiry only if there is a prima facie case (reasons to be
substantiated in writing), and not upon receipt of any complaint,
and should limit the investigation to the scope of inquiry.
