By virtue of Act IV of 2021, the National Holidays and Other Public Holidays Act (Chapter 252) has been amended in February 2021.

Prior to the said amendments, when a National Holiday or a Public Holiday falls on a Saturday or on a Sunday, this was not deemed to be a public holiday for the purposes of entitling a person to an additional day of vacation leave. This being said however, with effect from 1st January 2021 when a national or a public holiday falls on a Saturday or on a Sunday, it will be deemed to be a public holiday for the purposes of entitling a person to a day of vacation leave in addition to the ordinary leave entitlement for that particular year.

Schedule 1 of Chapter 252 outlines the dates which qualify as National/Public Holidays in accordance with such legislation.
