As of October 1, 2022, the minimum wage in Saskatchewan will increase from $11.81 per hour to $13.00 per hour.
Following its annual review of the province's minimum wage, the Government of Saskatchewan calculated the one-dollar nineteen-cent increase to reflect a market adjustment rather than by using its traditional indexation formula. The Government advised that the recently announced increases to the province's minimum wage better align workers' salaries with changing markets, contrasting with the indexation formula that gives equal weight to changes in the Consumer Price Index and the average hourly wage within Saskatchewan.
The Government announced that on October 1, 2023, the minimum wage will further increase to $14.00 per hour, and on October 1, 2024, it will increase to $15.00 per hour-a 27 per cent increase from the current minimum wage. After these increases, the province advised that it will revert to the indexation formula.
All provincially-regulated employers with employees paid minimum wage are required to make the mandatory adjustments on and after October 1, 2022.
